Across Stone Telling, marks arise through different degrees of proximity to their source: through direct contact with geological or built surfaces, others record an outline or use the surface as a printing matrix. Elsewhere, the source is absent or imagined. The series moves between imprint and invention, asking how an encounter, or memory of  contact, with a material surface is translated into an image, and what of a place that image can carry once it is taken from its source.
